Prepacked Well Screens
Prepacked well screens are composed of two screens nested one inside the other. The annular space is filled with filter pack materials at the factory before shipment, which effectively simplifies on-site construction procedures and improves operation efficiency. These screens are specifically designed for high-capacity wells and offer significant advantages over traditional rod-based screens in terms of strength:
- High Strength Features: With a collapse strength equivalent to that of pipes and a tensile strength twice that of standard rod-based screens, they can withstand the pressures of complex downhole environments, ensuring long-term stable operation and reducing the risk of screen damage.
- High-Quality Filter Pack: The filled filter pack materials are resistant to biological erosion and have superior hydraulic performance compared to silica sand. This ensures efficient fluid passage while effectively intercepting impurities, enhancing the filtration effect.
- High Open Area: Thanks to the unique dual-support structure design, it has a higher open area than conventional screens in deep applications, meeting high-flow requirements and increasing well productivity.
For prepacked well screens, the base pipe can be perforated casing conforming to API standards, bridge slot pipe, or continuous slot well screen. The filter media in the middle layer can be quartz sand, wire mesh, metal fiber, ceramic beads, etc. The screen jacket can use continuous slot screens or bridge slot pipes. They can be flexibly combined according to different working conditions and requirements to meet diverse operation scenarios.
