Hot-dip galvanizing creates a thick zinc protective layer on fasteners at high temperatures to achieve excellent anti-corrosion capability.
According to extensive American standard tests, medium-sized electro-galvanized bolts (M6~M10) merely have a 5~8 μm zinc coating. Our hot-dip galvanized bolts and matched nuts are available in strength grades 4.8–10.9 (M12-M48), with a mandatory minimum coating thickness of 54 μm. Such rigorous thickness standards ensure stable anti-rust performance.

Q1: 
Why do HDG bolts need matched special nuts instead of standard ordinary nuts?
A1: 
Hot-dip galvanizing increases the thread surface thickness. Ordinary standard nuts have insufficient thread clearance, which will cause jamming, thread scratching or locking during installation. Our supporting HDG nuts adopt over-tapped (6AX/6AZ) tolerance, which perfectly matches HDG bolt threads for smooth assembly and stable fastening performance.

Q2: 
What is the service life of HDG bolt sets in outdoor and coastal environments?

A2: 

In conventional rural and urban outdoor environments, the service life can reach 20-50 years. In harsh coastal salt spray and industrial polluted environments, it can stably serve 15-25 years, which is 5-10 times longer than ordinary electro-galvanized fasteners.

Q3: 
Will HDG process affect the strength of high-grade bolts?
A3: 
For 4.8/8.8 grade bolts, hot-dip galvanizing has almost no impact on mechanical properties. For 10.9 grade high-strength bolts, we adopt professional stress relief annealing process before galvanizing to avoid high-temperature tempering risk, ensuring the original tensile strength and toughness of the bolts.

Q4:
Can these HDG fasteners be used with stainless steel parts?
A4:
Direct contact installation is not recommended. Different metal materials will cause galvanic corrosion in humid and coastal environments, which will accelerate coating damage and rust. Isolation gaskets can be used for separation if necessary.
