​Product Description

The alloy 90/10 plat iridium, containing 10 per cent iridium, has very good all round manufacturing characteristics: it can be cast, welded, machined and stamped; it is ductile and malleable; can be hardened through working; and does not readily oxidize. The alloy has been used in "nonstandard" thermocouples, electrical contacts and for electrodes in medical research. The alloy is harder and mechanically stronger than Platinum.

This wire features a 90% Platinum and 10% Iridium composition and is widely used in the assembly of microelectrode probes. Iridium, a Platinum group metal, is very dense and hard, imparting added strength to the wire.
