FEATURE OF Zirconium
(1) Zirconium and gas have strong affinity. They react with oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen at about 200, 300 and 400 ℃ respectively. The reaction is rapid at higher temperature. Therefore, the melting and heat treatment should be carried out in vacuum furnace. When heat processing is carried out in the atmosphere, proper protection measures shall be taken and the operation time under high temperature shall be shortened.
(2) The friction coefficient between zirconium and mould is high, and it is easy to adhere to the surface of the mold; The thermal effect of plastic deformation is remarkable, and good lubrication conditions are required during processing.
