Product Description

Zirconium Zr Alloy Tube UNS R60705 For Industrial Coil-Heat Exchanger Applications

Zr Alloy Tube is made of metal zirconium and other metals. Due to the excellent nuclear performance and corrosion resistance of zirconium, zirconium alloy tubes are often used in the internal structure of nuclear fuel assemblies and water-cooled reactors. Pure zirconium alloy tube is mainly used for manufacturing chemical equipment and Coil-Heat Exchanger.

PARAMETERS (STANDARD)

  • Executive standard: ASME SB-658 / ASTM B658-07

  • Zr alloy tube outer diameter 6.0-114mm

  • Zr alloy tube wall thickness 0.3-8.0 mm

  • Zr alloy tube length ≤ 18000mm

APPLICATIONS

Zr alloy tube is very often specified for highly-corrosive industrial applications and frequently used in processes in which chlorides are a component. These and other very corrosive chemicals are damaging to lesser materials. This corrosion can rapidly lead to repair and/or replacement of the equipment in short time frame, causing expensive and highly disruptive process stoppage.

FEATURE

The water cooling of reactor zirconium alloys elevates requirement for their resistance to oxidation-related nodular corrosion. Furthermore, oxidative reaction of zirconium with water releases hydrogen gas, which partly diffuses into the alloy and forms zirconium hydrides. The hydrides are less dense and are weaker mechanically than the alloy; their formation results in blistering and cracking of the cladding – a phenomenon known as hydrogen embrittlement.
