SMT stencils or "glue-in" stencils are laser-cut solder paste stencils with or without frame which permanently mounted in a stencil frame using a mesh border to tightly stretch the stencil foil taut in the frame. Generally, framed stencils are designed for high volume screen printing on electronic PCB boards.
Laser-cut SMT stencils need cleaning during the SMT process. And PCB assembly manufactures wipes the bottom side (board contact side) of each solder paste stencil using lint-free wipes saturated with IPA. Then once every 4 hours they remove each solder paste stencil from the screen printers. And for fine pitch parts, Linked Electronics advise electro-polished surface treatment for the PCBs, so that it will be easy to remove the solder paste on the laser cut stencils.
