What is use of pipe nipple?
These kind of nipples are suitable for use under extreme conditions of vibration, pressure surges and changes of temperature. Swage nipple: The basic purpose of a swage nipple is to bringing the flow of fluids from one pipe size to another. These are available with plain, beveled or threaded ends.
What is the length of a pipe nipple?
A nipple is normally described by the overall length, of which (in the case of a half inch pipe) about 3/4" or so is threaded on each end. Something like 3/8" of that thread will engage into a typical fitting, so the length between fittings once it is assembled will be around 1 1/4", plus or minus at least 1/4".
What does close mean in on pipe nipples?
Pipe Nipples can come to any specified length, but most commonly range between close to 12”. A close pipe nipple is the shortest piece of pipe necessary to allow for fully threaded end connections, where there is no smooth surface between threads. Unlike pipe nipples, swages are manufactured to industry standard lengths that do not vary.
