While SPT 1 lamp cord weighs between 20-21 pounds per thousand feet, SPT 3 lamp cord can weigh 88 or even 100 pounds per thousand feet.

The SPT cable types range in operating temperatures as well. SPT-1 cable is rated to 105°C, and SPT-2 has versions that are also rated to 105°C. However, other SPT-2 cable is rated to 60°C. All SPT-3 cable is rated to 105°C. All three types of SPT cable are rated to 300 volts.
