Why use vacuum degasser for drilling mud?
During the drilling process, the gas contained in drilling fluids from wells affects the mud property, brings hidden danger, and shortens the service life of some equipment. So, it is necessary to install a vacuum degasser to eliminate gas from the mud.
The basic principle of drilling mud degasser
Vacuum degasser utilizes negative pressure by the vacuum pump to withdraw entrained gases from the mud. In order for this to work, mud is pumped through a venturi, which develops a negative pressure in the vessel by vacuum pump, thus sucking mud into the unit. The choice between horizontally- or vertically-mounted units are typically based on the footprint requirements of the specific rig.
The functions of vacuum degasser
Vacuum Degasser is a special-purpose device and a new type one for the treatment of gas in the drilling fluids. It can get rid of various gas of invasive drilling quickly. Vacuum degasser is very important for returning mud gravity, stabilizing mud viscosity, and reducing drilling costs. Also, at the same time vacuum degasser can be used as a heavy-power agitator and supported applicable to all types of mud circulation purification systems.

Vacuum degassers are not operatred continuously. As the entrained gas quantity is not as large as the gas flow out of the choke manifold or the elevating pipe. We can turn it on when entrained gas raise.
