Product Description

PTMEG 3000 Utilized in Manufacture of Conventional Polyurethane Elastomers

1. Description

PTMEG 3000 (Polytetramethylene EtherGlycol) is a 3000 nominal molecular weight diol produced by THF (Tetrahydrofuran) polymerization, exhibiting enhanced reactivity suitable for polyurethane applications.

Manufacturing Process:

Monomer: THF                            Polymer: PTMG

C4H8O + H2O           →              H(OCH2CH2CH2CH2)nOH

2. Application

PTMEG 3000 is widely utilized in the production of conventional polyurethane elastomers, including spandex fibers, artificial leather coatings, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), and thermoplastic polyester elastomers, as well as in adhesives and foams.

5. Storage

PTMEG 2000 is hygroscopic; moisture absorption can adversely affect polyurethane reactivity and the physical properties of the resulting polymer. Therefore, the material should be stored in sealed containers under dry conditions, away from direct light sources. The recommended storage temperature range is 20-95°C. Opened drums must be tightly resealed immediately after material withdrawal.

6. Package

200kg / drum; ISO Tank Container

7. Handling Precautions

PTMEG 2000 exhibits low acute toxicity and odor, posing minimal health hazards to users. However, standard industrial hygiene practices should be observed during handling.

Suitable protective clothing and safety glasses are required to prevent unnecessary contact and accidental ingestion. In case of skin or eye contact, immediately flush with copious amounts of clean water. For eye contact, seek medical attention.

PTMEG polyether glycol is combustible under certain conditions and may explode if heated to decomposition temperature in a confined space. Polyol fires can be extinguished with water fog, carbon dioxide, or dry chemical extinguishers.
