Sodium Fluoride effectively inhibits the enzyme enolase, halting glycolysis within red blood cells and preserving the *in vivo* glucose concentration for up to 48-72 hours after collection. This ensures the accuracy of tests where glucose degradation is a concern, making it the gold-standard tube for reliable glucose and forensic alcohol determinations.
