Introduction:

The ultrasonic harmonic surgical system is used to simultaneously cut and cauterize tissue for different surgery. Unlike ESU, the harmonic surgical scalpel uses ultrasonic vibrations to cut and cauterize tissue. The handpiece as a component of harmonic surgical system, converts electrical energy to mechanical motion. The result is vibration of 55,500 cycles per second (ultrasonic motion) at the tip of the shear. Normally it works together with shear, generator and footswitch. It's mainly used in different surgery except: brain surgery and incising bone.
