ASTM A249 / ASME SA249 Standard
This specification covers welded austenitic steel tubes designed for boiler, superheater, heat-exchanger, and condenser applications. The standard applies to tubing sizes ranging from 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) in inside diameter to 5 inches (127 mm) in outside diameter, with wall thicknesses from 0.015 to 0.320 inches (0.4 to 8.1 mm).
Key Specification Details
- Grades TP304H, TP309H, TP309HCb, TP310H, TO310HCb, TP316H, TP321H, TP347H, and TP348H are specifically designed for high-temperature service in superheaters and reheaters
- Mechanical property requirements do not apply to tubing smaller than 1/8 inch in inside diameter or 0.015 inch in thickness
- Available in both inch-pound units and SI units as standard
- Optional supplementary requirements available upon request
