ASME SA516 Grade 70 Carbon Steel Plate - 485-620 MPa Tensile Strength, 0.30% Max Carbon Content for Boiler Pressure Vessels

ASME SA516 carbon steel plates are available in four primary grades with varying tensile and yield strength ranges:

• SA516 Grade 55: Lower carbon content for general applications
• SA516 Grade 60: Balanced strength and weldability
• SA516 Grade 65: Enhanced strength characteristics
• SA516 Grade 70: Highest strength with carbon content up to 0.30%

Higher grades like SA516 Grade 70 may require preheating during metal arc welding processes, particularly with thicker steel plates.

SA516-70N refers to normalized steel plate products. Steel plates and sheets thinner than 40mm are typically supplied as rolled-steel coil, while plates with thickness above 40mm are supplied normalized. The material density is 0.284 cu/in³ (7861 kg/m³).
