Monel K500 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy that combines the excellent corrosion resistance of Monel 400 with significantly enhanced strength, hardness, and resistance to corrosion fatigue and erosion.

Monel K500 is classified as moderate to difficult to machine due to rapid work hardening and high shear strength. Key recommendations include using rigid, overpowered machines; maintaining tool sharpness; employing positive rake angle carbide tools; using heavy, constant feeds; and applying appropriate lubrication with sulfochlorinated oils or water-base coolants.
