Vibration friction welding is the use of friction heat generated by linear vibration to weld thermoplastic products.
Two thermoplastic parts contact and friction against each other under certain pressure, amplitude and frequency. The friction generates heat, which causes the material to melt at the welding interface. Under pressure, molten plastic flows out of the welding area to form flash. After the vibration ceases, the molten plastic layer solidifies and produces a strong joint.
