The piston is connected to the connecting rod through the piston pin (7). The pin allows the piston to rotate around the pin axis. It is usually covered with a low friction material to reduce the friction losses. The piston pin bore or boss (6) is hosting the piston pin (7), which connects the piston to the connecting rod.
