The pressurized air entering the air tanks is regulated by the air compressor governor, which stops the compressor from working when the pressure reaches the cut-out level (120-125 psi). When the pressure drops to the cut-in level (100 psi), the governor induces the compressor to pump again. A safety valve is fitted in between the compressor and the first reservoir to protect the system from over-pressurization; it is set to open at 150 psi.
