Brief Introduction:
An Optic fiber Connector terminates the end of an optic fiber cable and enables quicker connection and disconnection. The connectors mechanically couple and align the cores of fibers so that light can pass. Better connectors lose very little light due to reflection or misalignment of the fibers.
The ST connector family (straight tip) represents the standard connector type for installations and is frequently used in local networks. A typical feature of the ST connector family is the bayonet connection, also known as the BFOC connector (bayonet FO connector). Connector Body: this is a plastic or metal structure that holds the ferrule and attaches to the jacket and strengthens members of the fiber cable itself.
Coupling Mechanism: this is a part of the connector body that holds the connector in place when it gets attached to another device (a switch, NIC, bulkhead coupler, etc.). It may be a latch clip, a bayonet-style nut, or a similar device.
