Engine Crankshaft Seal
The crankshaft seal is among the most important parts of a car. It is made of a large, round rubber seal placed between the engine and transmission. By its position, the seal can fit comfortably around the rear part of the crankshaft and keep the engine oil from escaping. There are two common types of crankshaft seals. One is the so-called front crankshaft seal, and the other is usually referred to as the rear crankshaft seal. However, they also have alternate names (front main seal and rear main seal).
