Instructions for Press-In Wiper Seals
Seal Shape: Form A - Single Lip Wiper
 
Prevent external contaminants from entering the system. The single lip (lip refers to the protrusion or edge of the seal) wiper cleans the
 
connecting rod as it retracts. Double-lip wipers clean and seal the oil on the connecting rod as it retracts to eliminate "oil out" (exterior leaks).
 
The double-lip wiper is retained with a bearing retainer. These polyurethane wipers are coated with metal for strength. They are often referred to
 
as "sealed" wipers (wrapped in metal) or "J" wipers (metal usually has a "J" shape when viewed in cross-section).
