Concentric-Lay-Stranded ACAR Conductor ASTM Specifications B230, B398 And B524.

Made of round aluminum 1350-H19 (extra hard) and round aluminum 6201-T81 wires, ACAR is a concentric-laystranded conductor. There are single and multi-layer constructions for ACAR conductors. These options offer the current carrying capacity and requisite strength for the specified applications. ACAR conductors are stronger and have a greater ampacity than ACSR conductors for the same weight.

2.Construction

ACAR has aluminium 1350 H-19 wires concentrically stranded around a 6201-T81 aluminium alloy core. Typically, the 6201-T81 is the conductor core, but in certain designs, the 1350 H-19 and the 6201-T81 wires may be stranded in the same layer
