ASTM B232 Standard Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced MV And LV
ASTM B232 Standard Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced MV And LV
Aluminum-based conductor A kind of high-strength, high-capacity stranded conductor that is commonly used in overhead power lines is called steel-reinforced cable (ACSR). High-purity aluminum was used for the outer strands due to its excellent conductivity, light weight, affordability, corrosion resistance, and respectable mechanical stress resistance. Steel is used in the center strand to provide extra strength and support for the conductor's weight. Steel can withstand more mechanical tension on the conductor than aluminum because of its greater strength. Steel also has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion under current loading and a lower elastic and inelastic deformation (permanent elongation) owing to mechanical loads (such as wind and ice). Compared to all-aluminum conductors, ACSR can sag considerably less thanks to these characteristics. International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) regulations state that
Acsr Dog Conductor Feature:
a. High tensile strength
b. Long life
c. Light in weight
Acsr Dog Conductor specification
| Code | Size (AWG/MCM) | Number of Strands(mm) | Weight(kg/km) | Rated Strength(kg) |
| Rose | 4 | 7*1.96 | 58.3 | 399 |
| Iris | 2 | 7*2.47 | 92.7 | 611 |
| Pansy | 1 | 7*2.78 | 117 | 740 |

| Aster | 2/0 | 7*3.5 | 186 | 1375 |
Service Performance:
(1). The permissible long-time operating temperature for aerial conductors is 70℃.
(2). Under the circumstance that a rare climate is occurring and the ice coverage rate is low in heavy ice areas, the biggest stress of cable at the lowest point of the sag should not exceed 60% of the short-time destructive power.
(3). When connecting conductors, the conductor beside the connecting tube cant be prominent. Otherwise, the force on the operating conductors will be unbalanced. After connectors are install, the connecting tube should be painted by moisture-proof varnish in order to protect it from corrosion.
(4). Under installation, the arc downing stress of all the conductors should be the same. With in the permissible distance of crossing buildings or dropping to the ground, the stress can be 10-15% higher than regular stress.
