Product Description
Our Bow Shackle with safety screw pin meets or exceeds all requirements of ASME B30.26-2004 and RR-C-271D. The shackles feature a large rounded shape that allows them to accommodate loads from multiple directions without developing significant side load.
Bow shackles and anchor shackles are used interchangeably and refer to a type of shackle with a larger, round "O" shaped bow. This design enables these shackles to be side loaded or used in multiple sling-leg connections.
On a screw pin shackle, a threaded pin is inserted through the ears and tightened down. They are ideal for use with multiple-leg slings, connecting slings to load rings, and accommodating wider straps. Note that reduction to the Working Load Limit must be accounted for when used in side-loading situations.
The screw pin configuration is best suited for temporary applications or those requiring repeated and quick connections and disconnections. They are not recommended for permanent or long-term installations.
Important: A live line, such as a sling used in a choker hitch configuration, can cause the screw pin to rotate, torque, or twist, potentially causing the pin to unthread itself. Always tighten the pin prior to each lift. When using a screw pin shackle, ensure the screw pin threads are fully engaged, tight, and the shoulder is in contact with the shackle body.
