Advantages:

It is widely used in heat resistant situations, such as thermostable handle of thermostable sealing ring of thermostable bottle ring and pressure cooker ring.Cold resistance: normal rubber is -20° to -30°, that is, silica gel has good elasticity when -60° to -70°. Some special formulations of silicone rubber can also withstand extremely low temperature, such as: low temperature sealing ring.Sealing: it has good sealing performance.

3. Aging resistance: no yellowing or fading after long-term use.

4. Safety: The raw materials are made of food-grade silica gel. The products are tasteless and do not deform and produce harmful substances at high temperature.

Disadvantages:

1. Poor tensile, tearing and mechanical properties.At room temperature, its physical and mechanical properties are not as good as most of the synthetic rubber (except for nitrile silicone, fluorosilicone rubber), low tensile strength, poor tear resistance, for the working environment in the presence of tensile, tear, strong wear situation is not recommended to use silicone sealing ring, usually only do static seal use.

2. It is not suitable for use under working pressure of more than 50psi.It is not recommended to use silicone seals in most concentrated solvents, oils, concentrated acids and diluted solutions of caustic soda.

3. Compared with other materials in terms of price, the manufacturing cost of silica gel sealing ring is relatively high.
