What is ADSS Cable?
The fibers, are positioned in a loose tube made of a high modulus plastic. The tubes are filled with a water-resistant filling compound. A Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) locates in the center of core as a non-metallic strength member. The tubes (and fillers) are stranded around the strength member into a compact and circular core. The cable core is filled with filling gel to protect it from water ingress. The kevlar yarn surrounded the cable core as the reinforce strength member, then the cable is completedwith a PE sheath.
1. It is self-supportive and does not utilize metallic elements that are conductive;
2. Its installation costs are lower compared to OPGW (optical ground wire) and OPAC (optical attached cable);
3. It has amazing mechanical strength, low weight, can handle external load and suitable for high loading and unloading cycle;
4. Its aramid yarn increase cable’s tensile performance, as well as temperature performance under unfavorable weather;

·Application
The actual status of overhead power lines is taken into full consideration when ADSS cable is being designed. For overhead power lines under 110kV,
PE outer sheath is applied. FOR power lines equal to or over 110kV, AT outer sheath is applied. The dedicate design of aramid quantity and stranding
process can satisfy the demand on various spans.

ADSS cable complies with Standard IEEE P 1222 as well as IEC 60794-1.
