Product Description
Cold Rolled High Quality Sheet SPCC/DC01/St12/Spcd/Spce
Application: Building, Roofing Sheet, Safety Fence

Cold rolling process uses hot-rolled steel coils as raw materials, which are pickled to remove scale before undergoing cold rolling. The finished product is hard rolled coils with increased strength, hardness, and toughness due to cold hardening from continuous cold deformation.

The plastic index decreases, affecting stamping performance, making it suitable only for parts with simple deformation. Hard-rolled coils serve as raw materials for hot-dip galvanizing plants equipped with annealing lines. Typical coil weights range from 6-13.5 tons, continuously rolled at room temperature with an inner diameter of 610mm.

Comparison: Cold Rolled Steel vs Hot Steel Coil
  1. Appearance and Surface Quality:
Cold plates undergo surface finishing during cold rolling, resulting in superior surface quality (e.g., surface roughness) compared to hot plates. Hot plates are categorized as pickled (metallic color) or unpickled (with oxide layer), with the latter being more prone to rusting in poor storage conditions.
  2. Performance:
While mechanical properties are generally similar, cold plates exhibit slightly higher yield strength and surface hardness due to work hardening during cold rolling. The strength of annealed cold plates consistently exceeds that of hot plates.
  3. Forming Performance:
Surface quality differences primarily affect forming performance. Cold plates consistently deliver better forming appearance effects than hot plates of the same material due to their superior surface characteristics.
