Technical Information
Spark Resistance
Hot-dip galvanized coatings are anti-sparking and non-incendiary, making them safe for various industrial applications.
Temperature Considerations
High temperatures above 480°F (250°C) can accelerate coating peeling and may cause zinc-iron alloy layers to crack and separate from the steel. We do not recommend using hot-dip galvanized steel in applications exceeding 480°F (250°C).
Fire Performance
While fire temperatures can exceed 1,000°F, galvanized steel typically shows minimal damage. A protective carbon dust layer often forms, preserving the underlying zinc coating.
