Frequently Asked Questions
Is it okay to use Galvalume with pressure-treated lumber?
Generally, no. The chemicals in modern pressure-treated wood (like ACQ) are highly corrosive to Galvalume. Use a barrier tape or physical separator between the wood and metal.
Does Galvalume require regular maintenance?
Very little maintenance required. However, areas not washed by natural rainfall (like under eaves) should be rinsed with fresh water annually to remove accumulated salts and dust.
What kind of fasteners should be used with Galvalume?
Always use high-quality stainless steel or zinc-aluminum capped fasteners. Never use carbon steel fasteners as they will rust and stain the panels.
How should Galvalume coils or sheets be stored?
Store in a dry, well-ventilated area. If stored outdoors, tilt to allow water drainage and cover with a breathable tarp.
Is Galvalume steel recyclable?
Yes, it is 100% recyclable. It can be melted down at the end of its life to produce new steel without any loss in quality.
