Corten steel features,
Weather resistant structural steel has a good anticorrosive properties of weather. The steel is self-protecting, the rust layer on the surface becomes a tight oxide layer that slows down the progress of corrosion. The steel is also economical, long-lasting and fully recyclable material. So it is widely used in some kinds of construction such as railway, container, bridge, building etc which is exposure to atmosphere long time.
Weather Resistance
Because Cor-Ten steel has high weather resistance, it can be used without painting. Unpainted applications not only offer the economic advantage of reducing repainting costs; they also offer aesthetic benefits associated with the calming color of the protective rust.
While weather resistance depends on the product grade and the application environment, Cor-Ten steel's weather resistance is nearly 4-8 times that of ordinary steel.
Paint Durability
Cor-Ten steel is paintable in the same way as ordinary steel. In addition, even if a painting defect should occur, Cor-Ten steel suppresses the progress of rust area and, accordingly, prolongs the service life of the paint, thereby reducing repainting costs.
Weather resistant steel sheets, corten A and corten B
The material forms its own protective layer when exposed to atmospheric elements. Essentially, the top layer corrodes and then protects the steel beneath it. The natural finish does not normally require any form of maintenance such as painting, which makes the material a highly cost effective alternative to other structural steels.
