ASTM A537 CL.1 steel plates shall be normalized. SA537CL2 and SA537Cl3 plates shall be quenched and tempered. ASTM A 537 Class 1 carbon steel plates are engineered to be used in pressure vessel applications. The material is a normalized steel which is heat treated and as a consequence displays greater yield and tensile strength than the more standard ASTM A516 grades.
