Behavior: white crystal or white powder; belongs to tetragonal system, relative density is 2.558, m.p. 993°C, b.p. 1695°C; slightly soluble in alcohols, soluble in water, water solution is alkaline, corrosive to glass; soluble in hydrofluoric acid and turns into sodium bifluoride.
Uses:
- NaF is an important fluoride, used as pesticides and bactericides in agriculture.
- Used as wood conservative, water treatment agent, ceramic pigment and fluoride treatment of light metal.
- Used as UF2 adsorbent in neclear industry.
- Used as materials for making other fluoride chemicals, in enamel industry, medical industry, paper-making industry, building materials, etc.
