Electrodeionization (EDI) represents a revolutionary advancement in pure water production technology developed in the 1990s. This continuous chemical-free deionization system combines electrodialysis and mixed-bed ion exchange principles to produce stable ultra-pure water without requiring chemical regeneration or system downtime.

Core Working Principle
The EDI membrane stack operates by applying a direct current field across alternating cation-selective and anion-selective membranes. Feedwater enters resin-filled chambers where ions migrate through specialized membranes while water molecules dissociate at the resin interface, generating H⁺ and OH⁻ ions that continuously regenerate the resin in-situ, eliminating the need for acid/alkali chemicals.
