Description
Although Proximitor Sensors and interface modules are rugged by design, you
should secure and protect these units and their electrical connections when
installing them near rotating machinery. These products may also require
explosion-proof housings for hazardous area installations.
We offer housings to protect Proximitor Sensors, interface modules and velocity-
to-displacement converters (VDCs) from adverse environmental conditions.
Explosion- proof, water-resistant and water and corrosion-resistant units are
available.
Explosion-proof and water-resistant housing
You can order housings with non-conductive mounting plates to electrically
isolate the Proximitor Sensors, interface modules and VDCs from the housings.
When properly installed, the explosion-proof housing is certified for use in the
following: Class 1, Division 1, Groups B, C, D. Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F, G.
Class III, Division 1 and 2. CSA Encl 4. CSA Certificate LR26744-79.
Water-resistant housing
The certified Stainless Steel Water Resistant Housings meet stringent IP66 and
Type 4X environmental ratings for protecting enclosed electronic equipment in
harsh conditions. The 304/304L stainless steel construction resists moisture,
corrosion and impacts in virtually all installations and may be hosed down for
cleaning when necessary. When used with appropriate fittings the Stainless Steel
Water Resistant Housings are approved for North American Division 1 and 2 and
European Zone 0, 1, and 2 hazardous area applications. However, it is not an
explosion-proof housing.
