MIC2000 RS485 and 4-20mA Gas Monitoring Controller for Fixed Detection Systems
Overview
The MIC2000 RS485 and 4-20mA Gas Monitoring Controller is designed as the central control unit for distributed fixed gas detection installations. It collects field data from connected detectors, displays real-time readings, processes alarm conditions and controls external equipment through relay outputs.
Both RS485 digital communication and 4-20mA analog inputs can operate within the same system. This gives system integrators greater flexibility when building gas monitoring networks using different detector types or other industrial transmitters.
The MIC2000 is especially suited to projects requiring centralized supervision of many detection points, historical event recording and connection to higher-level control or monitoring platforms.
System Capability
- 1 to 32 analog 4-20mA channels
- Up to 255 RS485 devices
- Multiple controllers communicating within one system
- Four standard relay control groups
- Additional control channels when required
- Optional analog output
- Optional Ethernet connectivity
- Optional computer monitoring
Monitoring Interface
The controller uses a 3.5-inch color LCD with configurable display layouts.
Operators can monitor several channels simultaneously or enlarge one monitoring point for easier viewing.
Available display content can include:
- Current concentration
- Gas or parameter name
- Maximum value
- Minimum value
- Alarm status
- Real-time concentration curve
- Historical trend curve
Automatic cycling is useful for installations containing many monitoring channels, while manual selection allows operators to focus on a specific detector.
Alarm Management
The MIC2000 uses three-stage alarm logic.
Each circuit can be assigned its own high and low limits, allowing different alarm settings for different gases or applications.
When alarm conditions occur, the controller can trigger local sound and light warnings while switching connected relay circuits.
Possible relay-controlled equipment includes:
- Exhaust fans
- Ventilation systems
- Solenoid valves
- Gas shutoff equipment
- Beacons
- Sirens
- Other safety interlocks
Data Logging
Measurement and alarm information can be stored internally for later review.
Users can define the data recording interval and choose between:
- Continuous concentration logging
- Alarm-event-only recording
Stored records can be displayed directly on the controller and selectively reviewed or deleted.
Communication Options
Standard Communication
- RS485
- MODBUS protocol
Optional Interfaces
- 4-20mA output
- Ethernet
- RS485/RS232 converter
- USB/RS232 cable
- PC software
These options allow the controller to communicate with industrial automation systems and remote monitoring platforms.
