Penn State Particle Separator equipment setup and components
Operation Procedure
1. Stack separator boxes: upper sieve (19.0mm), middle sieve (8.0mm), lower sieve (1.3mm), solid pan
2. Place approximately 3 pints of forage or TMR on upper sieve
3. Shake horizontally 5 times, rotate quarter turn, repeat 7 times (total 40 shakes)
4. Record weights retained on each sieve for analysis
