Frameless motors are designed simply to include a stator and rotor. Frameless motors can be easily integrated in a mechanical design, allowing for a compact motion system. These motors do not include a housing, which can reduce weight with the potential to reduce cost. Although encoders are not included in a frameless motor, Hall sensors can be added as a primary or secondary source of position sensing. Frameless motor kits enable rotors to be rigidly attached to the load, enabling significantly higher performance in terms of acceleration and servo loop bandwidth.
