The dirt particles in the air have the function to scatter the incident light. The density of scattered light is related to grain size. The air containing dirt particles is sucked in from sampling port of the sensors. When it passes through the photoactive area, the dirt particles are shined by the light to scatter optical pulses signal with certain proportion to particle size. The signal is received by photosensor and is converted to corresponding electric pulse signal and then is amplified. By counting the electric pulse in one detection cycle, the quantity of dirt particles in the detected air with unit volume is obtained. This is also the particle concentration.

Y09-350 laser dust particle counter (50L/min) is used to measure and analyze the size and quantity of dust particles in a unit volume of air in a clean environment, and is a testing instrument to determine the cleanliness level of the clean environment according to the standard.
