Reverse Osmosis Technology
Reverse osmosis technology utilizes semi-permeable membranes to separate pure water from solute-containing solutions. The semi-permeable membrane allows only water molecules to pass through. In natural osmosis, water spontaneously moves from the pure water side to the solution side. When pressure greater than the osmotic pressure is applied to the solution side, water molecules are forced through the membrane to the pure water side, creating the reverse osmosis purification process.
