Q:What material is it made of, and why is this chosen?
A: It’s usually made of filled PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) or a high-performance engineering plastic like nylon or POM. Sometimes it’s made of fabric-reinforced phenolic material for extra strength. These materials are chosen because they have very low friction, excellent wear resistance, and good dimensional stability under pressure. They don’t scratch the cylinder bore and can handle the side loads common in hydraulic cylinders.
Q:How do these materials perform in different conditions?
A:Filled PTFE wear rings work well across a wide temperature range (-40°C to +150°C) and with almost all hydraulic fluids.
