Due to different technical principles, the shapes of diamonds grown in HPHT and CVD laboratories are also different. The shape of HPHT diamond is usually a combination of cube and octahedral surface, while the shape of CVD diamond has no octahedral surface at all. The cubic crystal face grows faster than the octahedral crystal face.
