Product Description

1. Problem: "Thermal Binding" and Slurry Choking on Deep Cuts

  • The Problem: When masonry contractors or landscapers need to cut through thick, highly abrasive materials like concrete cinder blocks, paving stones, or cured brick, using a continuous rim or standard turbo blade is inefficient. The deep cut generates massive friction, trapping abrasive dust in the kerf. This causes the steel core to overheat, warp, and violently bind (pinch) inside the block, stalling the angle grinder.

  • The Result: Burned-out angle grinder motors, severely warped blades that must be thrown away, and dangerously slow cutting speeds that kill job-site productivity.

2. Cause: Zero Expansion Relief and Heat Trapping

  • Thermal Expansion: Steel expands when heated. In a deep, high-friction cut, a solid steel plate has nowhere to expand, causing it to buckle laterally (wobble).

  • Dust Impaction: Solid rim blades trap the pulverized concrete sand inside the cut. This trapped sand acts as a brake pad against the blade core.

3. Solution: Deep U-Slot Segments and Cold-Pressed Matrix

  • Aggressive Segmented U-Slots: The blade perimeter is divided by deep "U-shaped" gullets. These expansion slots serve two critical functions: First, they allow the steel core to safely expand and contract under extreme heat without warping. Second, they act as massive centrifugal shovels, instantly scooping and ejecting heavy concrete dust and slurry to keep the cut clear and the blade ice-cool.

  • Consistent Diamond Distribution: Manufactured using an advanced Cold-Pressed sintering process, this blade guarantees an even, consistent distribution of premium diamond grit throughout the metal matrix. This prevents "bald spots" in the segment, ensuring a steady, aggressive bite from the first cut to the last.

  • Massive 10mm Segment Height: Engineered with a high diamond content packed into an extra-tall 10mm segment. This provides an exceptionally long commercial lifespan, dramatically lowering the cost-per-cut for general contractors working on high-volume block and brick jobs.

5. Professional Industry Applications

  • General Masonry & Bricklaying: The definitive "rough-cut" blade for rapidly sizing clay bricks, cinder blocks (CMU), and retaining wall stones.

  • Concrete Flatwork: Ideal for chasing cracks, cutting control joints, and trimming cured concrete driveways and sidewalks.

  • Landscaping Hardscapes: Fast, dry cutting of thick, abrasive concrete pavers, flagstone, and natural slate directly on the job site.

6. Operation and Safety Guidelines

  • Dry Cutting Optimized: The segmented design is specifically engineered for maximum airflow, making it the safest and most efficient choice for dry-cutting masonry without a water feed.

  • Beware of Edge Chipping: Because of the aggressive gaps between the segments, this blade strikes the material with high impact. It will leave a rough, slightly chipped edge. DO NOT use this blade on fragile glass, porcelain tiles, or fine granite countertops where a clean edge is required.

  • Kickback Warning: The deep slots can occasionally catch on loose materials or rebar. Maintain a rigid, two-handed grip on your angle grinder at all times and ensure the masonry block is securely immobilized before cutting.

7. FAQ: Expert Technical Support

Q: Should I buy a Segmented, Turbo, or Continuous Rim blade?

A: It depends on your priority: Speed vs. Finish.

  • Segmented (This blade): Fastest cut, longest life on rough materials, but leaves a rough/chipped edge. Best for bricks and concrete blocks.

  • Turbo Rim: Medium speed, medium finish. Good for general stone and hard materials.

  • Continuous Rim: Slowest cut, but leaves a perfectly smooth, glass-like edge. Best for porcelain and ceramic tile.

Q: Can this Cold-Pressed blade cut through concrete that has steel rebar inside?

A: While it can occasionally cut through thin wire mesh embedded in concrete, it is not recommended for heavy steel rebar. The cold-pressed bond is optimized for abrasive stone/concrete. Hitting thick steel will rapidly knock the diamonds out of the matrix and dull the blade. For heavy rebar, you need a "Laser-Welded" diamond blade.

Q: Does the blade come with the adapter ring shown in the picture?

A: Yes. The blade features a native 7/8" (22.23mm) arbor, which is standard for US and European angle grinders. It also includes a precision brass adapter ring to reduce the arbor to 20mm, ensuring compatibility with specialized masonry saws or older tools.

Q: Why does the blade occasionally spark when cutting concrete?

A: Sparking occurs when the metal bond (the alloy holding the diamonds) rubs against very hard aggregates (like river rock) inside the concrete. A little sparking is normal. However, if it sparks excessively and stops cutting, the blade has "glazed over." Make a few cuts into a soft, abrasive material (like an asphalt block or a red clay brick) to wear away the metal bond and expose fresh diamonds.
