Product Description

1. Introduction: High-Speed Precision for Through-Holes

The DIN 371/376 HSS-E M35 Spiral Point Machine Taps (also known as "Gun Taps") are the industry standard for high-efficiency through-hole threading. Manufactured from premium M35 High-Speed Steel with 5% Cobalt, these taps offer exceptional red hardness and wear resistance.
The specialized Spiral Point geometry at the cutting face continuously pushes chips forward and out through the bottom of the hole. This eliminates chip evacuation issues, reduces friction heat, and allows for significantly higher cutting speeds in CNC and automated production lines.

3. Advanced Manufacturing Process

  • M35 Cobalt Base: We use genuine HSSE (5% Co) to ensure the tap can withstand high-temperature friction without losing its cutting edge (Red Hardness).

  • Fully Ground Precision: Each tap is CNC ground from a solid hardened blank. This ensures the 6H tolerance class is strictly maintained and the thread surface is polished to reduce torque.

  • Specialized Heat Treatment: Vacuum hardening achieves a stable HRC 64-66, providing the perfect balance between rigidity and toughness.

  • Surface Treatments: Available in Bright Finish, Steam Oxide (VAP) for stainless steel, or TiN/TiAlN coatings for ultra-high-volume production.

4. Industrial Applications

  • Through-Hole Excellence: The "Gun Point" design makes this the most efficient tool for any hole that passes completely through the material.

  • Target Materials: Specifically engineered for tough alloys, including Stainless Steel (304, 316), Acid-resistant steel, Alloy steel, and Titanium alloys up to 1200 N/mm².

  • High-Volume Production: Ideal for CNC machining centers, transfer lines, and multi-spindle tapping machines.

5. Packaging & Logistics for Wholesalers

  • Industrial Protection: Every tap is housed in a single high-impact Square Plastic Tube (Rose-Box) to prevent edge chipping during transit.

  • Rust Prevention: Coated in a professional-grade high-viscosity anti-rust oil for a 3-year warehouse shelf life.

  • Wholesale Ready: 10 pieces per inner box, with 5-layer corrugated master cartons optimized for international sea and air freight.

  • OEM Customization: Since 1997, we have provided high-definition Laser Etching on shanks (Your Logo + Size + Material + DIN Standard) for our B2B partners.

6. Professional FAQ

Q: Why use M35 (Cobalt) instead of M2 for these taps?

A: M35 adds 5% Cobalt, which significantly increases heat resistance. When tapping stainless steel or high-tensile alloys, M35 maintains its hardness where standard M2 would dull or melt.

Q: Can I use this Spiral Point tap for Blind Holes?

A: No. Spiral point taps push chips forward. In a blind hole, the chips will clog at the bottom, leading to tap breakage. For blind holes, please see our Spiral Flute series.

Q: What is the difference between DIN 371 and DIN 376?

A: DIN 371 has a reinforced (thick) shank for smaller sizes (M2-M10) to prevent twisting. DIN 376 has a reduced shank for larger sizes (M12-M42) to allow for greater tapping depth.
