Premium M3-M52 DIN 374 Machine Taps | HSSE Cobalt 5% Spiral Point | High-Speed Threading for Fine Pitch Alloys
1. Introduction: The Metric Fine (MF) Specialist
Our DIN 374 Spiral Point Machine Taps are engineered specifically for Metric Fine (MF) threading in through-hole applications. Unlike standard coarse threads, fine pitch threads require higher precision and lower torque.
The Spiral Point (Gun Point) design features a shallow straight flute with a specialized cutting face that pushes chips forward and out the bottom of the hole. Available in HSS-M2 for general engineering and HSS-E M35 (5% Cobalt) for high-tensile alloys, these taps deliver the 6H tolerance accuracy required for critical mechanical assemblies.

3. Material & Manufacturing Excellence
-
Bright Finish (Uncoated): The precision-ground bright finish offers a sharp cutting edge and excellent surface integrity. It is the ideal choice for non-ferrous metals and general-purpose steel where specific coatings are not required.
-
HSS-M2 vs. HSS-M35: * M2 Grade: Perfect for mild steels, aluminum, and brass (up to 800 N/mm²).
-
M35 (5% Cobalt): Engineered for Stainless Steel (304/316) and high-alloy steels where heat resistance is vital (up to 1200 N/mm²).
-
-
Fully Ground Geometry: CNC-ground from solid hardened blanks ensures perfectly concentric threads and a 6H Tolerance Class.
4. Strategic Industrial Applications
-
Automotive & Aerospace: Used for fine-pitch fasteners in engine blocks and hydraulic manifolds.
-
Hydraulic & Pneumatic Fittings: Ensures leak-proof thread engagement in thin-wall connectors.
-
Electronics & Instruments: Perfect for M3-M6 fine threads used in precision measurement tools.
-
Through-Hole Efficiency: Designed for high-speed automated production where forward chip evacuation is mandatory.
5. Packaging & Logistics
-
Secure Individual Storage: Each tap is vacuum-sealed and housed in a shockproof Rose-Box plastic case to protect the fine thread geometry.
-
Anti-Rust Protection: Every tool is coated in industrial-grade oil, guaranteeing a 36-month safe shelf life for wholesalers.
-
OEM Customization: Since 1997, we have provided Laser Marking (Logo + MF Size + Material + DIN 374) for global tool distributors.
6. Professional FAQ
Q: Why use DIN 374 instead of DIN 371/376?
A: DIN 374 is the specific standard for Metric Fine (MF) threads with a reduced shank. While DIN 371/376 is for standard coarse threads, DIN 374 ensures the correct dimensions for the finer pitches used in specialized engineering.
Q: Can I use a Spiral Point tap for Blind Holes?
A: No. Spiral point taps push chips forward. In a blind hole, the chips will clog at the bottom and snap the tap. For blind holes, use our Spiral Flute series.
Q: What drill size should I use for MF threads?
A: Because fine threads have a smaller height, the tapping drill size is different from standard threads. For example, for M10 x 1.0, the drill size is 9.0 mm (Nominal Size - Pitch).
