AR coating silica optical Sapphire Dome Lens for infrared thermal imaging camera. A dome consists of two parallel curved surfaces, functioning as optical windows that do not introduce magnification to the light path. IR domes are commonly used in defense applications with extreme environments, where high optical transmission at specific IR spectra, high hardness, flexural strength, and durability are critical specifications for substrate material selection.
Advance offers infrared domes made from various substrate materials including sapphire, hot-pressed MgF2, hot-pressed ZnS, ZnSe, and Germanium. Sapphire is ideal for both ultraviolet (UV) and MWIR (3-5μm) bands, hot-pressed MgF2 is suitable for MWIR bands, while ZnSe or Germanium are excellent choices for 3μm to 12μm domes covering both MWIR and LWIR regions.
