Production Description:

Our high density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembranes is very low permeability synthetic membrane liner or barrier used with any geotechnical engineering related material so as to control fluid (or gas) migration in a human-made project, structure, or system. Geomembranes are made from relativelythin continuous polymeric sheets, but they can also be made from the impregnation of geotextiles with asphalt, elastomer or polymer sprays, or as multilayered bitumen geocomposites. Continuous polymer sheet geomembranes are, by far, the most common.

Both HDPE and LLDPE are polyethylene liners, but they differ in their molecular structure. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is more rigid and denser than linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE). This is because HDPE has minimal branching of its polymer chains. Hallaton Environmental Linings installs both HDPE and LLDPE.

The properties of the liner are determined by its thickness and texture (smooth or textured). HDPE liners can range in thickness from 0.2mm to 2.5mm. The thickness affects how permeable, strong, flexible, and heavy the liner is. The most commonly used HDPE liners are 0.5mm and 1.0mm, since they are suitable for a variety of applications.

Application:

• Mining. An HDPE geomembrane can prevent contamination of water and soil by providing a highly resistant barrier to chemicals produced during the extraction of precious metals.
• Landfills. Highly resistant to hazardous chemicals HDPE has long been the lining of choice for this application. Used as either primary or secondary containment/ caps with or without GCL.
• Irrigation Canals. To prevent water loss from seepage of water for man-made canals.
• Tank Liners. Steel and concrete tanks are easily lined to prevent seepage loss. Also used as secondary lining under tanks in the petrochemical industries.
