Introduction

Unfiltered compressed air often contains dust, oil, rust, moisture and other harmful substances, so it needs to be filtered. In the first stage of filtration, compressed air passes through a tubular mesh filter to produce a coalescing effect. Here, larger particles are adsorbed on the filter, and the water condenses into larger droplets, which can then enter the separation chamber. The compressed air decelerates and causes the particles to condense on the honeycomb mat, so that the water droplets move to the bottom of the drainage system and are discharged through an automatic or electric drainage valve. In the first filtration stage, more than 95% of water droplets, oil and large particles are removed. This practice is most commonly used for water removal, but it is also used for oil removal.
