PCT Overview
Procalcitonin (PCT) is a glycoprotein without hormone activity found by assicot et al. 1993. It is mainly produced by bacterial toxins and inflammatory cytokines, which usually does not increase in the state of non infectious inflammation. At present, it has been used as an important index to distinguish bacteria and sepsis.
