When connected in series with the load circuit, the PTC thermistor maintains low resistance during normal operation. During circuit faults where current exceeds twice the normal working current, the thermistor rapidly heats up and transitions to high resistance state, effectively protecting the circuit. Once the fault is cleared, it automatically returns to low impedance for normal operation.
