WMZ12A PTC Thermistor for Overcurrent Protection
The WMZ12A Series represents the latest generation of components designed for reliable overcurrent protection. These thermistors have passed UL1434 safety testing and provide automatic, repetitive protection and recovery without contact points, noise, or spark generation.
Product Overview
WMZ12A PTC thermistors are specifically engineered for overcurrent protection in various applications including ballasts, CFLs, adapters, chargers, watt-hour meters, multimeters, telecom equipment, and micromotors.
Operating Principle
When the protected circuit operates normally, current through the PTC thermistor remains below its maximum non-operating current (IN), maintaining a low-resistance state that doesn't affect circuit performance. During abnormal conditions (overcurrent), the current exceeds the trip current (IT), causing the thermistor to rapidly transition to a high-resistance state, effectively opening the circuit and preventing damage. Once the fault clears and conditions return to normal, the thermistor automatically resets to its low-resistance state.
